Asheville Holiday Parade: Get Into the Spirit of the Season!
Local businesses and organizations march, and they’re joined by American Legion Post 70, JROTC, the Asheville Fire Department, marching bands, dance teams, cheerleaders, tons of decorated floats, and much more. While entries vary from year to year, there are typically over 100 exciting participants. Is Off the Wagon there? You bet. We love Christmas, and we can’t pass up the opportunity to take part in the vibrant holiday energy of Asheville.
Typically, the parade starts up on Charlotte Street, travels up Biltmore Avenue and towards the performance area at Vance Memorial. Then it veers left onto Patton Avenue before ending on French Broad Street. The mile-long route winds through downtown; plan to spend about 90 minutes enjoying the floats and festivities!
Parking is available along the parade route, and several streets will be closed completely. Plan ahead so you know where to go, where to park… and where to go after the parade is over!
Asheville offers terrific shopping so you can make short work of your Christmas list. Try the sweet and satisfying Asheville Bee Charmer, the eclectic Asheville Emporium, the funky American Folk Art & Framing and Appalachian Craft Center, and more.
You’re bound to work up an appetite with all this shopping and sight-seeing. Luckily, Asheville knows how to cook. We love Curate, Chestnut, Pack’s Tavern, 67 Biltmore Downtown, Addissae Ethiopian Restaurant, Green Sage Cafe Downtown, Heiwa Shokudo, Izzy’s Coffee Den… we better stop before we get too hungry! Find more options here.
Finally, what better way to cap off an amazing day than stopping by Asheville’s most entertaining venue: Off the Wagon Dueling Piano Bar. We open at 7:00, so come and grab a cocktail until the dueling piano show starts at 9:00. From there, it’s anyone’s guess what’ll happen! Give our musicians a run for their money, and see just how extensive their repertoire is.
The Asheville Holiday Parade is sure to get you into the spirit of the season - to be sure, though, better come by for an amazing show at Off the Wagon!
