Asheville Strong: Experience the Spirit of the Mountains

Asheville Strong: Experience the Spirit of the Mountains

When Hurricane Helene swept through Western North Carolina this past September, it tested the resilience of Asheville's community. But like the ancient mountains that surround us, Asheville stands strong. Today, our vibrant mountain town is ready to welcome visitors back to experience the unique charm, culture, and entertainment that make Asheville special.

The Spirit of Resilience: Off the Wagon Leads the Way

During the height of Helene, one establishment emerged as a symbol of Asheville's unbreakable spirit. Off the Wagon Dueling Piano Bar remained the only downtown business to stay open throughout the storm, providing a beacon of light and entertainment even as water flowed from the ceiling. This veteran-owned establishment, housed in the historic Chamber of Commerce building on North Market Street, continues to represent the best of Asheville's determination.

Today, Off the Wagon's dueling pianos still ring out nightly, with talented musicians taking requests from an ever-growing repertoire of thousands of songs. The energy is infectious, the drinks are flowing, and the community spirit is stronger than ever. As their motto goes, they're open "come hell or high water" – and they've proven it.

Downtown Dining: A Culinary Renaissance

Asheville's renowned culinary scene is back in full force, offering everything from international cuisine to local farm-to-table experiences:

Global Flavors

Entertainment That Can't Be Missed

The entertainment scene is thriving, with unique experiences you won't find anywhere else:

Off the Wagon leads the nightlife charge with their high-energy dueling piano shows. Their all-request format means every night is different, and their talented performers know thousands of songs from the past five decades. From Taylor Swift to classic rock, they'll play it all – and probably make you laugh while doing it.

LaZoom Tours has resumed their famous comedy bus tours, offering a hilarious perspective on Asheville's history and culture. Meanwhile, Pubcycle provides a unique way to tour downtown's breweries and bars, combining exercise with entertainment in true Asheville fashion.
