Spring In AshevilleSpring is just around the corner, and what better way to celebrate the upcoming season than a visit to the Blue Ridge mountains? Asheville comes alive in spring, with nature's palette bursting into full bloom. From the colorful tulips at the Biltmore Estate's gardens to the breathtaking views along the Blue Ridge Parkway, there's no shortage of scenic beauty to explore.

Take a stroll through downtown Asheville's charming streets, where eclectic shops, art galleries, and outdoor cafes beckon. To help you make the most of your spring in Asheville experience, we have put together a few of our favorite things to do while in the area!

Spring Has Sprung

Around here, we like to “Keep Asheville Weird.” Whether that weird is the quirky art installations that pop up around town or the unique characters busking downtown, we believe our city is a place where you can be whatever you want to be. This “weirdness” is well captured by the many events that happen throughout the spring.

1) Asheville Fringe Arts Festival

One such event is the Asheville Fringe Arts Festival, which sets out to explore the edges of each of the invited artists' work. There are over 70 performances by unique local and traveling artists that include a wide variety of performing arts.

2) Asheville Beer Week

Our city is often known by the moniker “Beer City” due to its plethora of amazing breweries across town. For a week in May, breweries will take over the town, showcasing their amazing craft beers through:

  • Beer Tastings
  • Beer Dinners
  • Panel Discussions
  • Local Philanthropy

3) River Arts District Second Saturdays

On the second Saturday of each month, the River Arts District (RAD) holds gallery walks with demonstrations, workshops, live music, wine tastings, great food, and so much more. This is a great opportunity to truly see local artists in their element and learn more about what makes Asheville such a special place.

4) Go Out On The Town

Asheville has an incredible nightlife teeming with local bars, restaurants, music venues, and clubs to keep you and your friends busy while in the area. Some of our favorite places include:

  • The Orange Peel: Asheville's renowned music venue presents a variety of live music events, including concerts, shows, and dance parties. The venue's tiny but lively environment attracts both local and national artists.
  • Grey Eagle: The Grey Eagle is a favorite among live music aficionados due to its friendly ambiance and excellent sound system. They showcase a variety of events, including folk, indie, and Americana bands.
