Asheville has a little something for everybody. From intimate jazz clubs to audacious drag shows, you can never go wrong with exploring the city's nightlife. However, with so many options, it can be a bit overwhelming to plan a fun outing for you and your significant other. We have put together a guide of some fun things to do around Asheville as a couple or with a group.
Great Outings for Couples in AVL
1. Asheville’s Beer Scene
The beer scene in Asheville is legendary. With old standards such as Highland Brewing and Green Man, it is easy to forget that the city is home to some incredible new blood. As always, we recommend that you should drink responsibly, especially when you are on your best behavior with your significant other.
Some of the breweries that we recommend around town for a night with your partner include:
- Burial: This brewery has it all. A deep sense of brewing heritage and knowledge… Check! Super cool beer names…check! A huge mural featuring Tom Selleck and Sloth… Wait what? Burial Beer is one of Asheville’s most unique breweries. Featuring beers that are thoughtful and promote a deep connection to the craft of brewing, there is no place quite like Burial Beer Co.
- DSSOLVR: A new addition to the Asheville brewery scene, DSSOLVR has led the charge with a fresh take on branding and beer.
- Archetype: Do you and your partner enjoy complex mindful beers? Well, Archetype is for you! This brewery is exceptionally detail oriented, focusing on wild ales, farmhouse ales, as well as more traditional hoppy beers.
2. Explore the Mountains
Many residents came to the Asheville area for the mountains. Nestled up against the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountain range, there is no shortage of things to do for couples who enjoy the outdoors. If you like mountain biking, you are in luck! There are hundreds of miles of some of the best trails in the world right in Asheville's backyard.
Additionally, the Blue Ridge Parkway, which extends for hundreds of miles through North Carolina and into Virginia, offers some of the best hiking, scenic overlooks, and all-around adventure.
3. Go to a Concert
Ashville is an eclectic place, with a plethora of different venues offering a wide variety of musical and other performance acts. A great date night in Asheville can easily end up at one of the many music halls found throughout town.
One such music venue is the storied Orange Peel. With a capacity of 1050 people, this venue is a great small to medium size room that has hosted some of the most well-known acts, including:
- 311
- Modest Mouse
- Tegan and Sara
